From the rubble and ashes of a post-apocalyptic Hollywood rises the legendary Allister Fiend, the protector of the mighty Mötley Crüe!
Allister is one of the most iconic mascots in music history, and we can't commemorate Crüe's 40th Anniversary without him. For many of us, long before the days of the internet, Allister was one of the first visuals we had of the band. He'd show up on t-shirts, patches and posters; and was sketched by millions of teens in notebooks around the world. If you were in school during the 80s, you probably handed in some homework back in the day with an Allister sketch on the back.
We enlisted the help of one of the best illustrators out there, Dan Mumford, to give Allister the first class treatment:
For this print I really wanted to create a world for the character of Alister Fiend to rule over, looking over this desolate landscape, scythe in hand. There isn't too much out there for the character, so it was a fairly blank slate and I enjoyed putting my own spin on it whilst staying true to the general vibe of the band. I tried to get quite a few little nods to the character and the band throughout the piece as well, placed around the debris. It's always important for me to have some good light coming through an image, and having the pentagram in the back be that light source worked really well. Overall I hope its a piece that fans of the band, and the character enjoy, as I had a lot of fun putting it together! - Dan Mumford
